Stephen Spiwak is an economist and Vice President
with Kantar Retail and manages the Retail Forward Intelligence System™
Homegoods Program as well as the Home Improvement program which systematically
analyzes and forecasts trends and developments related to the distribution of
home improvement, consumer electronics and home furnishings/furniture products. Steve
specializes in forecasting sales levels for the major retail channels and consumer
spending categories and contributes to the annual Economic Forecasts published
in the Retail Forward Intelligence System™. Steve also has specific
expertise in the research and analysis of the homegoods sectors, such as the consumer
electronics and home improvement sectors, and consumer shopping behavior. He authored
the Consumer Electronics Industry Outlook and the Homegoods Shopper Update reports.
He is also a contributor to the Global Retailing Program. Before
joining Retail Forward, Steve spent several years developing risk management and
marketing strategies for Alliance Data Systems, a proprietary credit card and
payment systems company. His risk and marketing portfolio included such companies
as The Limited, Lane Bryant Direct, Lerner Direct, Chadwicks of Boston,
and King Size. Steve earned a bachelors degree in business and economics
and a masters degree in economics from The Ohio State University.
